Robert Richardson

Robert “Bobby” “Rich” Richardson, a 1966 Andover High School graduate and star football player, died in South Carolina on July 21, 2006.
Born Oct. 7, 1946, Bobby was an affable and popular student leader and anchor of the football team who attended West Elementary School, the old Punchard Junior High School, and Andover High School.
Bobby came from a large family where he learned personal responsibility, practical skills, and a realistic outlook far in advance of the typical kid growing up in the fifties and sixties. He was more sensible and responsible than his friends and would guide them with his wisdom and experience to an always safe and prudent result – something like a “big brother” figure.
Bobby was a favorite of Andover High football coach Dick Collins, who influenced him to further develop both his self-confidence and his leadership abilities.
Bobby was always generous with his time and material things. He was resourceful and hardworking and was always finding ways to earn money, which he readily shared it with friends. Because of his life experiences, he did not approach things in a cavalier, carefree way. He knew you had to make your own way, work hard, and plan. He knew actions had consequences.
Bobby had many talents and was a natural athlete. He was a terrific dancer and talented artist who drew with grace and skill. He was the shrewdest card player and the best golfer and pool player – it all seemed to come naturally. Though a private and modest person, Bobby was proud of his Native-American heritage. More than anything, he was a good and loyal friend to those fortunate enough to be embraced.
Bobby’s survivors include his foster mother, Isabella “Ma” Monette; his six children: Bobby Richardson, Suzann Ware, Wesley Richardson, Joshua Richardson, Sierra Richardson, and Derek Richardson; and two grandchildren.
