Jensen Beach, FL – Kathy Lauder Byron, 56, also of Hampton, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at her home in Jensen Beach.
She was born April 18, 1948, in Andover, MA, the daughter of the late Gordon B. and Ruth (Shaw) Lauder. She moved to Jensen Beach in 1988.
She was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA, with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She received her master’s degree in nursing from Boston University.
Kathy was a nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital and then taught at several nursing schools in the Boston area, including the New England Deaconess Hospital. She worked for the Visiting Nurse Association and at a Port St. Lucie hospital, until a work-related accident in 1993 resulted in a disabling back injury that ended her nursing career. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and of the New England Patriots. She was very interested in investing and belonged to The Money Paper Investment Group. She was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), where she had worked to administer a scholarship fund established in memory of her mother.
Kathy’s survivors include a son, Steve Byron of Syracuse, NY; her brother, Keith F. Lauder; and her sister, Leona L. Lauder of San Francisco.;
