In Memory

Alan W Thomson

Alan W Thomson

Very saddened to learn that Alan Thomson passed away yesterday April 16, 2020,  in Andover. He had been battling lung cancer for some time but had recently tested positive for COVID-19. It was too much. Alan and his lovely wife Sue (Macklin), also an AHS grad, have been living in Andover for many years where he had joyfully served as a school crossing guard, among other retirement pursuits. Alan, you will be missed. 😢

Obituary from Conte Funeral Home. There will be no public services, as he requested.

Alan was a U.S. Navy Veteran joining  after high school, after he worked for Glennie’s Milk, and then for Daly Drug. He will be missed around town, a real townie.

Oh, no, I am so sad to hear and yet so grateful that I got to spend time with Alan and his wife at the reunion. He knew all three sisters in the Borrelli family and we loved knowing him.

The last time I saw Alan was, I think, about 2 years ago in Rocky's Ace Hardware in North Andover. He was a little frantic. I asked him how he was and he said he was well but that his wife sends him to the store (Rocky's) 2 to 3 times a week for something. We both chuckled a little bit and then we went our separate ways. Rest In Peace, Alan.

So very sorry to hear this...Alan and I were in the same classes from elementary through graduation...we confused the teachers by having pretty much the same name hence he became known as "AW" and I as "AK".  The last time I met with him was the 50th reunion and it was great share old school and neighborhood stories.

I'm sadden to hear of Alan passing. We had been classmates and teamates for our school years in Andover after which, as with most of us, we drifted apart. Yet when our paths crossed, no matter the length of time, we always laughed and had a good time. He truly was a good guy and I know I will smile whenever I think of him.  My very best to his family and relatives.
